What Inspires You?

I just wanted to raise the question of how you become inspired… How do you push through when those creative juices just aren’t flowing? Is it music? Television? Or simply sitting in a dark room and collecting your thoughts? I’ve been fighting the creative process lately and I just wanted to get an outside perspective on how to get through it. Tell me your thoughts in the comments… Thanks!

  1. Just start. If I’m writing, or shooting, or making something and I have no idea what to do I simply physically put myself in the position to do whatever it is. Open the blog “new post” page and type whatever is in my head, or pick up my camera and point it at something, or sit at my workspace with the materials on hand and start touching stuff. Most times I end up with a little stream of consciousness tangle and that gives me something to work with. Nine times out of ten I end up with something usable, and it usually surprises me.

  2. Sounds cliche, but sometimes getting up from my computer and walking around can clear my head and bring me inspiration. Sometimes I tend to over-think things, stress out and get off to a slow start creatively, but a change of scenery can really boost my brain. Even watching TV or listening to music helps put me in the creative mood.
